Although brushing twice a day is good for your teeth, you also need to floss at least once a day. When brushing, you need to try to angle the brush so that it’s near the gum line as this is where a good bit of the food that you eat settles.

If you can chew gum after a meal or two or at least a few times a week, then the saliva production in your mouth can stay elevated. This means that your mouth is going to naturally stay cleaned. The gum should be sugar-free so that there isn’t a lot of sugar that builds on your teeth while chewing.


If you’re active or you play sports, consider getting a mouth guard. Your dentist can fit you for a mouth guard if you want one that’s snug, or you can get a basic guard at most pharmacies and retail stores that you can easily mold using hot water if you just want general protection for your teeth.
